Who inspires you?
This may sound really strange, but the people who inspire me the most are complete strangers. Of course I am also inspired by the people I know and love, but I am very intrigued by the different styles I see on a daily basis. I love to people-watch and have always been fascinated by the individual styles we all possess and by overall human diversity.
What inspires you?
The first thing that comes to mind is music, because it is almost a requirement that I have good tunes flowing through the air in order to really get into a creative mood. I am also heavily inspired by nature, food, movies, and fashion. Sculpting miniatures is something I’ve always enjoyed doing because mimicking a certain food or animal presents a fun challenge.
Where do you create?
I usually get into my crafty mode in one of two places. My favorite is the dining room table because it is so big and allows me to spread out as much as I need to. Another place I often find myself is at my desk, where the space may be limited but everything I need is right there at arm’s reach. My goal is to eventually have an entire room dedicated to my arts and crafts.
How long have you been working with clay?
I have officially hit my 5 year mark! I originally took an interest in polymer clay because I was an avid jewelry maker (which has been a consistent hobby of mine since childhood) and I craved a larger, more unique variety of beads and pendants. Then I discovered clay and began to make my own. My style has evolved quite a bit throughout those 5 years. I recently found some of my very first clay beads and it brought me a good laugh. I’m very glad I stuck with this medium because I am now to the point that I always have an end product which I can be proud of.
