Who inspires you?

Polymer clay artists. I love to see other artists’ work. I love to see the colors other artists use and all the uniqueness in each sculpture. Our  PCAGOE group is the most inspiring.

What inspires you?

A brand new fresh package of clay that needs to be kneaded.

Where do you create?

Most of my ideas come to me while I am driving. I sculpt my ideas in the basement that is set up for a studio. I love my own space. I don’t have to clean up and I can come back to a project when ever I have a bit of spare time.

How long have you been using polymer clay?

Almost 10 years, but in the last 3 years I have focused only on sculpting. I have done some cartooning in the past and now love to bring those characters to life.

February “Love” Challenge Winners

Monday, February 4th, 2008

This month’s challenge was special in many ways. First it was the PCAGOE Monthly Challenge’s 1 year anniversary!! Plus we had a record number of entries (43) and a record number of votes (240). The voting was probably the closest it’s ever been with only 3 votes separating 1st, 2nd and 3rd and honorable mention. There were also 5 more entries tied with 1 vote less than the honorable mentions! We had a lot of diversity this month in terms of inspiration and technique. If you have never seen what polymer clay could do, you got a big eye opener this month. From jewelry to home decor to figurines& scultputers to wall art, this challenge saw it all! Thanks so much to everyone who participated! Now on to the winners…. First Place went to Looking for Some Romance by naamaza.etsy.com!!!!!

Looking for some romance

Here is her description of her very sweet piece: “Meet Joe, a hopelessly romantic guy looking for some love to light him up.
Joe is sculpted of a refurbished lightbulb.” Congratulations Naama!!

2nd Place was just one vote behind and went to Angels in Love Pendant by lemachidesigns.etsy.com

Angels in Love Polymer Clay Pendant

Here’s how she describes the technique used for this piece: “Muted colors, shades of lavender and taupe are layered over black polymer clay and detailed in gold ink and gold metallic flakes.” This piece is still available for purchase! Congrats!
3rd Place went to Rafael’s Valentine by Naftali.etsy.com

Rafael's Valentine - Side 1

Here’s Janice’s description of her inspiration for this piece: “The theme was love. Sometimes, when you get that fuzzy feeling of love, your head hits the clouds. If Raphael was alive today, and he worked in polymer clay, yup, this is what it woulda looked like. I’ve convinced . . . totally.” This bead has already been sold (not a big surprise), but she has many more lovelies avaiable in her shop! Congrats!

As I said earlier, the the voting was very close and we had a 5 way tie for honorable mention. Here they all are in no particular order:
